Espresso Brew Guide
Been on the other side of the counter wishing you could knock out a perfect espresso shot like the barista at your local? Our short espresso making guide has been written for you to understand the steps that an experienced barista follows when they brew your espresso.
Follow the below instructions to get a rich, reddy brown espresso with crema on top.
What you'll need
- Espresso machine
- Grinder (electric recommended)
- Scale
- Nuddy Coffee

STEP 1
Take off the group handle and purge the shower screen.
STEP 2
Remove the old coffee puck (the used coffee grounds) from the basket.
STEP 3
Clean the basket with a dry cloth.
STEP 4
Put the group handle on the scale and tare to zero.
STEP 5
Fill up the group handle with finely ground coffee.
STEP 6
Put the group handle back on the scale and make sure it weighs 19g.
STEP 7
Distribute the coffee until it’s nice and flat.
STEP 8
Tamp with a medium amount of pressure and make sure the bed is nice and flat.
STEP 9
Gently attach the group handle onto the group head. Press the brew button.
STEP 10
Press the brew button, and stop when the espresso weighs about 34g. Ensure the shot time is approximately 22 +- 3 seconds.
